Capstone Rural Health Center opened in June 2001 as a nurse-managed center and operated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a goal to deliver family centered, quality primary health care to rural areas. This was made possible by the University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, and Professor Dr. Jeri Dunkin. Throughout the years, as Capstone received prestigious accolades and awards, they opened additional locations and expanded services.
As they prepare for the groundbreaking ceremony of the newest location, Capstone is excited to unveil their new branding as: Capstone Health. Executive Director, Dr. F.David Jones explains, "We feel like our new brand and name accurately reflects the health system that we've evolved into in order to meet the needs of our growing community. We aren't just a clinic anymore. We are here to serve all of our communities for all of their health needs. As our new tagline states, your health is our mission."
The groundbreaking for the Nauvoo location at 532 Fourth Street, Nauvoo, AL 35578 will take place on May 15th at 10:00am. Congress appropriated $725,000 in Community Project Funding for this critical facility upgrade at the request of Congressman Robert Aderholt, who will be in attendance. Community members are invited to attend this event.
